Alien Swarm

About the Game

Alien Swarm is a game and Source SDK release from a group of talented designers at Valve who were hired from the Mod community.

Available free of charge, the game thrusts players into an epic bug hunt featuring a unique blend of co-op play and squad-level tactics. With your friends, form a squad of four distinct IAF Marine classes. Plan your attack using an unlockable arsenal of weapons with countless loadout configurations against a wide variety of aliens. Blaze your way through an overrun, off-world colony, eradicating the alien infestation in environments ranging from the icy planet's surface, to a subterranean lava-flooded mining facility.

The cake is a lie, Portal 2 is not.

Portal was one of the best games that I have seen in a long time.  The game was way different than anything most of us have ever played, which is the reason for it's success.  The game had a brilliant idea that was perfectly executed and a mysterious storyline that left you wanting to know more about what the hell was going on.  Throw in a hilarious computer that talks to you (GlaDOS) and it's the perfect recipe.

Valve has plans for Portal 2, which will be released sometime in 2011 on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC and Mac.  Teaser trailer below:

Quickly speed up Mozilla Firefox

Posted on June 6, 2010

For those of you like myself using Mozilla Firefox, I recommend changing a few settings in the configuration file to speed up your browser. This will take you less than one minute.

  • Open up Firefox and type "about:config" in the address bar (no quotes).
  • Tell the browser you'll be careful and enter the settings page, watch out for dragons.
  • In the filter bar, type "pipe" (no quotes).
  • Set network.http.pipelining to true by double-clicking it.
  • Change network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 8 by double-clicking it and changing the value.
  • Change network.http.proxy.pipelining to true by double-clicking it.

Restart the browser and Bingo! You will notice an increase in speed because you just allowed Firefox to use multiple connections to access websites and content.  Enjoy!

Advanced Wallpaper Search

Posted on May 24, 2010

Here's a quick tip on how I get my wallpapers. Most wallpapers come with that annoying watermark that we all love.  To get these wallpapers, we have to browse through bloated websites that have pop-ups galore.  Searching this way will give you MUCH more selection.  Since I have discovered this, I haven't been back to a wallpaper gallery.
